The Association for Business Communication has honored Priscilla Rogers, associate professor emerita of management communication at the Ross School of Business, with its prestigious Fellow of the Association Award for 2020.

The award is the top honor bestowed by the association and recognizes extraordinary excellence in business communication and related areas of study.

“Dr. Rogers distinguished herself for this recognition through her outstanding contributions to business communication research, to business communication teaching and pedagogy, and to association leadership,” the association said in announcing the honor. “In particular, our association has continued to thrive with her inspiring, pioneering scholarship.”

Rogers studies writing and speaking as management activities. Issues of efficiency, solidarity building, and relaying bad news have been her special interests. She has proposed decision-making tools for improving the effectiveness of subordinates reporting bad news to superiors, of call center agents handling highly conflicted calls with customers, and of CEOs presenting poor earnings to analysts.

Founded in 1935, the Association for Business Communication is considered the premier international business communication organization. With Sage Publications, the association publishes two top journals, International Journal of Business Communication and Business and Professional Communication Quarterly
